The main issue with Solid State Lighting has been finding the right solution that can deliver on this groundbreaking technology. In the design and creation of LED light bulbs, there are constant tradeoffs that must be made. This usually revolves around how hard you can "push" or "drive" the LEDs. The harder the LEDs are driven, more heat is produced. Heat around the LED is detrimental to its life, the hotter an LED runs, the less time it will run for.
